Folks,

I met with a personal friend today who wanted to do lunch, and ask me a tax question.... you can guess what that was. Out came the papers, all higgledy piggledy!

Question - he doesn't have an online password, and its too late for doing a paper return.

Can he do anything, or must he sit back and wait for the penalty?

I don't want to get too involved in this, but if it is worth doing the paper return and sending in with a nice letter then I'll happily do that for him (it is a very simple return).

Thanks in anticipation
James

Anyone with 3rd party software and an agent logon should be able to file it for him. It's just a case of finding an agent happy to do it.

Okay - a question then. Is anyone on here able to assist me/him? If so could you PM your price (assume I transfer money to you in advance, or meet with cash if you're in the home counties area) noting that his only income is one employment, nothing else.

Alternatively, how simple would it be for me to get an agent logon (I assume this is a HMRC logon)? Is it instantaneous, or does it involve posting things off?

You can do it as long as he has a UTR - James does he have that?

In the post - so a no go.

Give me a call and I might (just might) help you out :D

I had a nickname like that too in my youth but I don't think it was a compliment.

Quite, but maybe for the lady involved his quick speed at the task of filing preparation might have been a good thing?
