We are current with Zen who have been great and no probs. However, its getting pretty expensive now and o/h is using web a lot more since doing his open university degree.

We currently pay £16.75 for 5.12 GB and for the first time ever, have ran out of credit and had to top up.

Just wondered if there are any better deals out there. The only other provider I have tried was AOL and BT, both were awful as kept losing connections.

Zen are not cheap, but they don't aim to be, they aim to be good and by and large they are.

If you have a mobile from them, 02 are a very good deal - about £8 pm when I last looked - and also work well.

I had a big problem with virgin at the start but you get unlimited usage and a phone line for about £15-20 a month. Ive got another account with them and not had any problms in 4 years.

Just stay away from the O2 Access Package (£17.99 p/m) its worse than crap.

I am only with them because I got £25 cash back and 3 months Free on signup. I complained to the ISPA about the poor speeds in peak times and they gave me another free months free.

So in total for joining o2 I got £25 and the first 6 months free :D

I use UW Broadcall £25 per month for broadband and phone line rental combined. 40mb download.:D Free fixed router. I have my own wireless one attached to the fixed router. Speeds can be up to 24mbps, depending on how near you are to the exchange. I get about 14mbps which is fine.

virgin media are very good, i have the 20mb package and use the internet a lot
there's 4 computers in the house and i often download several gigabites a day and have not once had a problem, they might not be the cheapest out there but they are the best and if at the end of the 12 month contract you ring up to cancel they give you a better package for the following year :)

Trouble with Virgin and Sky is that they promise lots, but as soon as they realise you live in the sticks, so called free broadband or actual service goes out of the window big time.

Virgin are great as long as you have the fibre optic in your street. I used them for years and only changed when i moved.

I'm now with plusNet as they are cheap (i may be at this address for less than 12 months so choose a cheap provider so i wouldnt loose to much if i had to leave before the min period) I find them good value for money, but the connection does shudder at busy times.

Cannot agree more.

Been with them for eons (who remembers Diamond cable) and as I told the OP elsewhere, if you can get Virgin, get VM BB.

I am on the 20mb package via the VIP offer and in 3 years I must have had downtime of less than 2 hours...honest guv.
