I watch a BBC Report / May have been SkyNews about how BT have some innovative Ideas that they are working on and some of them were amazing. One in particular is a Harry Potter style Photo frames, where when you look at it it knows and moves the picture, like a girl may have her hands over her eyes and when you look she takes them away ( Pikaboo) but you can obviously add your own thing.

However I have looked for it on the Net and found nothing, if you can help me find it I would really appreciate it.

Having said that, they teach S.A.S people to avert their eyes when sneaking up on an enemy to kill him as they can feel your eyes on them if you have a strong desire to kill them.

Now unless you want to kill that poor little girl in the photo, I'm not sure how they'll do it!

I am sure it could work on a failry poor basis - from a single camera it would be damned difficult to possition someones head in relation to the screen and then estimate where eyes are pointing.

I would be more curious as to if the facial recognition software is to sit on the server (so you are having to have a "web cam" style link to the server) or if it will be a piece of software sitting on desktop (and so potential performance issues)

Avert their eyes because the eye pics up movement and shadow when not looking directly at an object. Its a cool trick when used at night whilst on observation.

Actually, carrots have a large amount of some chemical which is used in the formation of rhodopsin. Rhodopsin is important for the "black/white" photoreceptors on your retina. These receptors are called rods and are used to for seeing when there is very little light. When there is plenty of light, another set of photoreceptors called cones are used. These translate red, blue and yellow wavelengths.

The reason why you can discern a star at night better when you look slightly to one side of it, is because the colour receptors (cones) are more concentrated around the "blind spot" where the optic nerve begins at the centre of the retina, whereas the rods are more concentrated out to the periphery of the retina.

I just knew that A-level biology would come in useful one day! :shock:

Try it tonight keep one eye closed for 20mins then go out side and you can see all sorts out of the corner of your eye. The paratroopers use it they always keep one eye closed at night when theirs lights around they look like nutters.
