Hi all, i know i have been putting a few posts recently but this one is to try and get some information for a friend.

Well.....here goes.

He has an idea for a business. If people are looking for a product they want to get it as cheap as they can! He was thinking of setting up some sort of business working as an agent. Were he maybe could set up a website, people tell him what they way and he finds it for them, or he finds it and they pay him for the product.

How could he get something like this to work? Is this a good idea? Is there a big market for this?

Please can i get some advice on this business ideas so i can pass it on to him.

Hi,

Don't the online shopping product comparison site things like Kelkoo already do this? :?:

What items does your friend hope to look for? Normal things like gadgets and things? Houses? Cheap boats? :D

And when he does find them, how much is he going to charge? A % of the price or a fixed fee? And if you add his fee on - will it bring the overall cost back upto the customer to normal price?

How long is he willing to spend loooking for products - will he really be able to make a profit? Is it really worth his time and effort?

What if someone does want a cheap boat? Does your friend know anything about boats? Does he know people that sell boats, that might give him a good rate?

I can't think that there is alot of money in this unless you are helping righ people find a bargain or track something hard to find down and then negotiate on their behalf or something. If its normal stuff then you might as well set up a web shop and sell low priced items yourself in which case it's nothing unique. :D

I think the others are right ... either you're looking at competing with the big boys like Kelkoo and pricerunner ... OR, maybe he should be looking at a personal shopper service? It's the other end of the market, for sure!

Please stop wasting people's time on the forum. Requesting someones advice or service then not following it through, as well as bouncing several silly ideas around it really not clever or appreciated.
