If you ranked 1-10 for a keyword on google, would you bother with ppc for that keyword also?

I mean you might have got the click anyway, but with ppc you have to pay for it, with organic results its free

Is ppc only advisable for keywords that you dont rank for, as it can cost unneccessary money?

The only way to find out is a test. It could be a waste of money, or it could be extremely lucrative.

Put it this way: if you get a click on the campaign, then this targeted prospect may or may not have clicked your organic link otherwise.

Hi,

I have found that being ranked between 1-10 for a keyword and also having a ppc campaign for that keyword brings in paying customers.

Maybe its my product , but it seems like being ranked high on the natural free listings brings in more browsers than buyers , but ppc if the advert is specific , landing page e.t.c brings in more customers.

I am still finding my way around ppc , but I'll say both.

Best wishes,

Test it and see if it works. In my own experience I run SEO and PPC for a number of clients and it works very well.

Throw in local search for a local business and the 3 are an excellent combination.

PPC will provide you with a mine of information that will help your SEO campaign, and so will SEO for your PPC campaign.

Keep in mind that with PPC you would not only be appearing on the search engine results pages (SERPs) but also on peoples' websites when they are being paid per click for the ads that appear on their page.

PPC advertising gives you a much wider audience. Realistically, if you can afford a good campaign with PPC advertising (hopefully you'll be going for Adwords), then you'll get better results by combining a page 1 site in the SERPs with a great Adwords campaign.

I second what Codefixer says, a combination is perfect.

Hi Traxor, you can turn the content network off.

Hi Codefixer, I know - but in most cases you would want to target many different areas.

It's generally thought of as best practice in terms of branding to get a PPC listing above a natural search listing in Google. Even if you are ranking number one it helps.

I've worked for large brands that do this because they have the money to test it and it works because it increases conversions. You should also do it for your brand name, I know by default you should be number one in Google in natural search for your company name but having a paid listing just increases visibility and brand awareness. The cost per click on your brand name will be cheap too.
