Can someone tell me if Bing has any positive effect in a UK or EU domain? I rarely seen that bing boot, is either too slow or can't read other than dot com sites. I'm not sure what the big deal is with big, I read today that they will replace google in the iphones but to my site, they come every year :|

I'm not sure what the market reach of Bing is in the UK - it must be less than 10%. It's not a search engine that keeps me awake at night wondering how to increase my traffic from it. I never thought I'd say this about a Microsoft product, but I wish it would be more successful as in the UK Google has an unhealthy dominance in search.

Geeks keep banging on about Bing, ASP developers and the like. Wish they'd just shuddup.
I'm gonna print that Hitwise data in bit bold 78point font and stick it on the door.

It helps.
If you optimise your site for Google then that should help the Bing rankings which is a bonus. Bing seem to take more notice of keywords in URLs, but other than that they're quite similar when it comes to relevancy scoring.

Well thats not the whole story as although Bing has a small proportion of the SE market.
My obsevations are that they have a more serious user base, and therefore probably more likely to convert.
In any case all search engines are worth while getting traffic from,as even 3% of the UK SE traffic is one hell of a lot of people.
Better to be top of Bing than page 2 of google for most things.

In the past I’ve slated M$ and their efforts, however, Bing (wtf dumb arse name) is for some queries producing better results than Google.
# approx 8% of hits which is not good but it’s free traffic so what the hell. But…it will be years (before and only if it keeps on returning good results) that it is recognised.

Please keep all of the negative publicity about Bing going so we can continue to dominate their sponsored listings :)
Yes, the total traffic volume is much lower, but so is the competition... the very factor that pushes up the click prices on Adwords.
There's gold in them there hills (if you know where to find it!)!

I have clients who run PPC campaigns on all 3 networks.
The breakdown of spend tend to be 100:10:1.
However, that doesn't account for different matching algos, the difference in how the 3 search engines place ads on their pages, different click costs and different bid levels by my clients.
So, in terms of actual traffic, it might be more along the lines of 100:12:2.

We only run a PPC campaign on Google which brings in business while we (slowly) try and get up the Google organic rankings with SEO.
As a consequence of the Google SEO work we seem to rank quite well on Yahoo and Bing without conciously considering them.
Check your Yahoo and Bing rankings regularly and you might find it all comes out in the wash anyway:)

In my case all I can see is that Bing brings little traffic but almost every lead stays on my site longer and converts much higher than google, I just wish Bing could bring more of those
