Simple question..

Just been loading up a new batch of blogs using wp2.8.6

Cant figure why a meta robots content noindex, nofollow is creeping in to the base blog. Set up two proper sites , and found seo for firefox was redlining all pages etc.

So set up another new blog to test with only the base wordpress, no additional plugins, standard theme...so dont understand why all the links are no follow, and that meta is getting in, but it must be creeping in thru wp_head.

Have never seen robots in any of the standard WP set up...
Any ideas? I have two new sites not being indexed!!

There was something about this a while back where WP upgrades changed the default settings but I thought it had been fixed.

Anyway, go to Privacy/Settings and select the option you wish.

I'd also upgrade WP as it fixes some security settings.

If you have "Just been loading up a new batch of blogs using wp2.8.6", is there a reason why you are not using WP 2.9.1?
Not snarky, just interested.

Brilliant thanks. I missed it.... Last batch I did were in december and it had no such problem then

Dawg - in answer to your question, I am a lazyarse...I either use fantastico, or sometimes other paid blog management tools - eg gold wordpress direct, and it does not always install the latest

It's well worth upgrading. It fixes the bug you have encountered along with a whole bunch of other features: http://codex.wordpress.org/Version_2.9.

If you have FTP access it's a doddle. Just click on the upgrade link, enter your FTP settings and WP does all the rest.

All fixed and upgraded...I notice in the time since I have been loading with this host, their version of fantastico has just moved to 2.9 so the one I just did is 2.9
