Hi All,
Wonder if anyone here can help - I need to extract/export someones contacts from an Exchange 2003 server so that they can import them locally. They currently connect via a vpn connection and use imap to connect to their email which is located in the UK.
The question is - Can I export the contacts using any tools on the Server ?
Also, I thought orinally that any contacts you set up would be stored locally but that doesnt seem to be the case with this one.
Thanks
Allan.

Are you trying to export a copy of the Global Address List or some other type of contact list?
This knowledgebase article may help if it is the former: KB238773 (http://support.microsoft.com/?id=238773)

Its the users own contacts list and not the GAL.
Thanks

Just set up Outlook to connect to the Exchange Server (via HTTP if its not on the Lan) and use the Export Tool to export them to a .PST file.
Then just import them on the clients outlook using the import from PST file.
In fact, could you not set the client up to use the Outlook / Exchange over HTTPS as opposed to Imap and they would still have access to their contacts and calendar

This would be the best way of doing it export to pst and import the pst as stated.

Google: Where is my Outlook "PST" file located
The first result takes you to the ask-leo website which will give you details on how to find the pst file on the users machine. Copy this file and then import it into someone elses Outlook. :)
Best,
Chris
