Free Website Promotion

Hi, I would like to promote my website online.
The project has cost me loads more than I first thought.
Espotting is sending some traffic but not what I am after.
Overture is annoying me and I am a bit fed up with it.
I would like to add my web address to other sites and place it where people will actually visit it. As I said, i have already spent a lot on the website so I am looking for free listing of some description.

any ideas?

On that page there is a link to a spreadsheet that lists over 250 online directories. Each directory offers free submittal, no regisration required and a search engine friendly links back to your site.

Hi Claire - you did submit your site to my offer, but I still have a massive backlog! The spreadsheet is there for everyone if they want to have a stab at it themselves though!
