Anyone on UKBF have an interest in sailing? I yacht sail about 4 times a year on a 68' Oyster. Just wondered if anyone here enjoys the sport actively. May be opportunities to sail when I get back to the UK because I plan to buy a 28'-36' yacht.

I would like to sail around Italy/Greece/Carribean having gained much of my experience sailing from the Solent to Channel Islands, Isle of Wight and France as well as other British ports.

I love saling, but I prefer real boats, like my 16ft Hobie Cat :D

Have just posted an introduction. I am a director of a sailing school so thought I'd say hello to you.

My father in law has a Jeanneau Sun Odysee 54 that i have been on but never out on. Not really got sealegs but its made me appreciate boats in general, especially that one because of all the mod cons and finishings on it.

He is just back from going around the Med - France, Italy, Corisca, Greece, Croatia and North Africa.

As he says, sailing isn't a hobby....its a way of life !

Have you ever been up to Scotland Jonathan ? Thats what he is planning for next year. Up the West coast ( easier and less busy water ) through the Caledonian canal and then back down the East Coast of the UK.

Jeanneau is a beautiful yacht indeed with all the mod cons.

I have not sailed around Scotland but have been invited to. I really want to sail in the Med...around my favourite country, Italy.

I have sailed to France and the Channel Islands several times and apparently I was told that the English Channel is the most challenging.

Hi Afaia, which sailing school? In Greece? Is your school accredited by RYA?

Hi Jonathan

Yes, we are in Greece. We run courses from the island of Aegina (pronounced Eggina) close to Athens.

Afaia was a goddess who escaped here to avoid the unwelcome advances of an admirer. There is a wonderful temple 'The Sanctuary of Afaia' on the island which is well worth a visit. Much more peaceful than the Acropolis unless you are unlucky enough to go at the same time as a busload of Japanese tourists.

We are an RYA recognised school - I thought our website address was in my signature but it doesn't seem to have appeared - will have to try again.

Before coming to Greece we lived on the west coast of Scotland and sailed out of Dunstaffnage near Oban. The West Highlands are wonderful for sailing, but I do enjoy life without the midges and rain!

Trying to see if my signature is now attached - hopefully it is as I can see an option box below this message.
