View Full Version : Sidelining on line presence - good idea or not?

Hi All,

I've been reviewing my business model for a few weeks now and would appreciate some advice please.

Most of the marketing budget has gone on the online stuff, but with only 2% of income from that sector, I'm thinking seriously of side lining this area.

I'm going to try using face to face networking (personal referrals etc) much more to build the business this year...

Two questions:

1. Should I "sideline" (keep active), or "dispose" (put the time into what I know works)?
2. Would this be shortsighted?

I'd appreciate your views...

(I don't need telling here that I've wasted the opportunity that was there! - and please don't use this just to say " I don't like you, get off the forum"!)

I wouldn't abandon the internet marketing area without giving my case to someone who does the job really well to see if I've done things wrong if I were you.

It can easily be that you've been spending both your time and money the wrong way which resulted in a bad ROI.

Personally, I would look at the books and work out where your money is coming from.

While there is a place for internet in a business mix, its too easy to put more more effort into it than it deserves. On the same hand though, most people don't work smart enough with their website to get as good a value from them as possible.

Feeling the flesh is a much better way of getting a feel for your customers and potential customers than the internet for most SME's.

However, don't knock it on the head, just run it down to the bare minimum until you start getting feedback from your real customers about the state of your website!!

hope this helps!

Thanks Oli,

Much the feeling I had...The books speak for themselves in this case...
