I'd like you to help me with an experiment. Take a look at two images (I've provided the link below). You'll have to look at them carefully because they were created using two completely different methods. Consider the length vs. width of the face, the separation and apparent depth of the eyes, the type of nose, remove the short beard from one of them, and so on. Do you think the images are of the same person or of two different people? (If you know where these images come from, please don't give it away quite yet. It will ruin the experiment. Thanks.)

Here's the link to the two images:

I voted, what's it for anyway?

Here we go with another of your contentious posts :wink:

To me there is a distinct difference between the two, i.e. length of nose, height of upper cranium to name 2. Age could play a factor in this though.

Cheers, Nigel

Contentious, maybe, but I thought it would be interesting anyway. :)

The eyes in the second image are effectively missing, so this is why the comparison must be made carefully. Consider especially the shape of the face, the nose, the mouth, the cheeks, and the hair.

No one has a clue about who is in either image, although there's much speculation from those with a good imagination. I thought it would be fun to compare.

For sure fun,

sorry if my humour a little dry tonight, no offence intended!

I have voted, but in the interest of fairness (and I'd like to hear any medical opinion!), I have to say that I'm sure I have the 'visual recognition'* gene missing. I really do have a problem with faces. It spoils films as I don't know if it's the same or a different character on screen. I hope I'm never a witness to a crime because I really, really wouldn't be able to pick someone out from a line up!

* = made up gene

When do we get further info anyway?

The first image is a photograph of a rock formation on the surface of Mars. (Maybe Al the astronomist can elaborate).

The second image appears to have been irradiated onto a piece of cloth known as the Shroud of Turin.

I've sometimes wondered what the implications would be if the two images were actually the same. However, majority opinion implies the images are not very alike.
