Hi,
Do you know maybe which type of grants will be the best for job board ?
I don't want hide that more money will be very helpful in our road to success.
We have great script, great options and great graphic, but I gonna need more money on some real adverts (flyers etc.), beside positioning.
I will appreciate any help from your side.
Thanks.

Why would anyone want to give you a grant to replicate what hundreds of others have already done?
What makes your job board any different to all the others (apart from great graphics)?

Maybe new features ? (I d'like to make it most of innovative job board on market, even maybe more than just job board, but to do this I gonna need more cash, like from grant :))
Why anyone giving grants on anything if mostly every new business is just replica of another type of business ??
Maybe because it is good business, and no one how give money on this will later regret that.

I don't want go againts Monster.
I just want be near the TOP25 ;). Now we building our database and we have over 5,000 CVs now, so jobseekers just like our job board (over 70% of visitors creating there own CV in our database, many of our jobs which are posted getting similar amounts of CV to other big players (for example s1jobs sometimes getting less CV applications on job then we).
I don't want fight with big companies like Monster, I just want create something fresh. I have team of SEO guys with big success on their account so we have hope that our website will be in next 2 years in TOP10 for jobs/job keyword in Google, Yahoo and Bing (Google is about 90%, but still Yahoo and Bing existing so it will be good conversion from there).
Be more positive, when you created your business you wanted be biggest player in UK or just small business which will be generating profit ?

So are you in a niche market? Because if you're not your competition is Monster.

Yes, but please tell me how much and how many another companies earning on that business ?? Is it only Monster there ? No, becouse they have only some part of market.
Beside like I said stats are pretty good and we have for sure a lot of work to do in next 2 years but we know what we should do to start earning, to show our visitors that they can leave their CV in our database etc.
Beside I don't want speak with you guys about my plans but about grants, what kind of grant are in there to take ?
To get one of them I will try and I will show everything what I can to people which will be deciding about that.
We have few strong points in that fight ;)

The market is oversaturated with job boards, doubt you will get a grant for one either.
Definitely need to be niche if you are going into this but most find it hard to compete with monster, totaljobs and cv library.

I do not think there are grants for one type of business..
If you go to the business link website, they have a grant finder.
You put in the details is asks you for, and it will direct you to what you 'might' be able to apply for.
Try contacting your local Council (sometimes) they offer small grants, to certain businesses.
Local Trade and Commerce, might be able to help.
There is NO easy path to tracking down any grants, they are like hens teeth for certain catergories of business, you just have to keep looking and trying.
Get in with your local business networking groups, they often keep their eyes and ears open, and know what is available.
The markets are saturated for most types of business, its about finding an opening, and making your mark.
Try not to compete (not with the big boys anyway) you will not win.
Good Luck

Thanks for substantive answer.
I checked my area, in next week I will arrange appointment.
Like I said I don't want compete with the biggest (they are just too rich for me, its hard to compare starting business with multi-millions business which is present on market from years), I just think that this market with our script, graphics, modern and fresh attitude to Jobseekers can give us good money and will allow to develop this business with time (beside I'd like to start working on EU market in future so I don't want just focus on one country market, but I'd like to create network, right know we have in one of EU countries simillar website (same graphics, logo, script etc.) and it is very promising).
So no one now should afraid of us, we don't have 10 or 15 millions pounds to compete with Monster or other huge business from that market (for me it is even strange that someone could think that I want compete with Monster).
Our stron points are, great development team, great script, few new features, great graphic, low price.

There was a jobs board on Dragons Den a couple of years ago. Search for the episode, and take heed of James Caan's reasons why he won't be investing.

None of which has any relevance to your success. If you were niche (specific job set, local, etc) then you might stand a chance but there is no way you can compete nationally across the full job range with out a huge marketing budget.
