Google local maps where is it pulling from?

I see in some of the maps listing there are reviews from a few other places and not directly posted in maps, how does it pull this and how come some places (that have been about a long time) dont have any.

Also has a lot of random sites sometimes as well, how is it pulling this into local listings.
