Hi,

After all the help and support that I have received from UK Business Forums, my Fashion Jewellery/Costume Jewellery business is finally up and running. I have nearly finished our wholesale website (got quite delayed due to offline business), but the best part has been that the market response has been amazing. People are really liking the designs and finding them quite unique. I have done a fair bit of retailing to get a feel of the market, and everything seems to be on track, in fact far beyond my expectations.

The website can be seen on www.stylevolume.com . My retail website www.stylestatement.com should be up in a week’s time too. We have also decided to add a lot more unique products, related to Fashion jewellery, such as charm bracelet watches, mobile phone charms, etc, things which are really picking up demand these days.

Even though, retailing is doing very well, I am more of a wholesaler and hence I am looking for more bulk buyers. My typical target market is, Fashion Jewellery & accessory shops, hair dressers, gift shops, market traders, and jewellery wholesalers (as we are manufacturers too we offer very competitive prices and hence are looking to supply to wholesalers too). I have found quite a few clients in Birmingham, which seems to be a good start, but the whole purpose of the website, is to have clients throughout the UK. Hence I am looking for retail buyers, anyone who belongs to any of the above categories, or who might be interested in our designs. So feel free to have a look, and offer some feedback. If you have any friends and family members, in some of these businesses, feel free to recommend them ;) (My Sales Pitch).

I would also welcome ideas on what sort of things I can add onto the website (although there are many things which have to be updated on the size in terms of its aesthetic look, such as fonts, formatting of text, etc.). I am also looking to recruit some Re-Sellers in different towns, who can further look for buyers, will make another post about it with details very soon.

Finally, I would once again like to thank everyone on UKBF for all their help and support. This forum really is like heaven for business people 

Cheers
Ash

As per my email, it's looking good Ash and I'll be putting in an order this week.

Can you just confirm how the wholesale site and prices will be kept safe? Will it be password protected or subject to a high min order?

Thanks Hayles, really happy you liked it. I am not exactly sure if I understood your first question, in regard to the second question, the Min. order quantities are really small, and all details of min. order quantities (MOQ's) are on the Pricing & Terms page. The user accounts are indeed password protected, and once you have registered, you do not need to enter your contact information again and again, on your next order, you can just login, add items to your cart, and Order :).

Cheers Darren..Thanks a ton

Sorry, didn't make myself clear.

On the wholesale site, are you going to password protect it so the general public don't have access to the wholesale prices? (Usually a trader has to register with their business details and are then sent a password to access the site or see the prices.) Otherwise there's nothing stopping the general public registering and buying at trade prices, especially if you've low minimum orders. That wouldn't be good for our businesses :(

Hi Hayles,

I can understand your concern. Actually a made a post about this a while ago, on these forums. here's the Link

http://www.ukbusinessforums.co.uk/viewtopic.php?p=32071#32071

I have been thinking about this. In fact i am seriously considering, displaying the prices only to registered/approved members, but I want to experiment it without that feature for a while. I do realise, the minimum order quantities are low as compared to other wholesalers, the reason being that the website has just launched, and the idea is to establish a nationwide customer base. The Moq wil probably go up in the future. Secondly, even though the MOQ is low in comparison to other wholesalers, it is still at a level where a Retail customer would be more or less unlikely to buy. In order to meet the MOQ a retail customer will have to buy 20 - 30 designs, which I personally dont feel is something, that would happen often. Finally, we may launch our retail site in the future too, hence that is one point in favour of not displaying prices on the wholesale site :)...so yeah i am still thinking :) .

Hi Ash,
Welcome back and all the best.

I apologise for being so deep for you guys. The reference to the calendar was in relation to the faux paus (that's mistake, Jayne  ) I made in reading the join date.

Hi hayles,

I have succumbed to your pressure, and decided to take the prices off for Joe Bloggs (it might take 2-3 days to set up the feature). ;) . Anything for our Customers. Trust me, the MOQ restricts them from buying a small enough quantitiy. At the moment, its set at a level, which is very comfortable for bulk buyers and uncomfortable enough for Joe Bloggs.

Hayles
30th December 2005, 21:24
Sorry Ash my mistake, I couldn't see the minimum order quantity on the FAQ so didn't think there was one!

I think you should keep the prices on the site - just get businesses to register first and then send them an email with a password to view the site. That's what 99% of our other suppliers do.

Just an idea :D

(Did you notice that I got away with telling Nigel to be quiet!!!! I'm going now before he comes back!)

Hi

Just wanted to let any other shop owners know that I've received my first order from Ash and the jewellery is excellent! Good price and good quality. I was a little hesitant to order at first as I was worried about quality - but no probs at all. Ordering from Ash will save me travelling to London every couple of months to stock up.

Definitely worth a go if it's your line of business. (Feel free to pm me if you've any queries!)

Thanks again Ash,

Hayles
