Hin there,

anyone out there interested in developing a martial arts products websites.

I have a number of interesting domains, particularly nunchaku.co.uk and nunchucks.co.uk and would like to offer to develop and run these with a partner, selling primarily nunchucks.

Small investment for stock needed and thats about it really.

Can see it being a nice little earner, I am developing a number of shipping based sites so I should be able to keep the prices etc down as my packers will be working for multiple sites.

Hi there,

I have many martial arts instructor contacts (my brother being one of them) and I'm also author of the book `The Essential Guide to Learning Martial Arts'. I know that there are already many sites available selling martial arts gear and instructors tend to sell equipment to their students so I think you'd need to have access to good stock at the right prices to create an impact.

Are you shipping products in or using one of the wholesalers such as Blitz?

If you focus on a niche area then this might be more productive and you'd probably have more success if you can offer this opportunity to an instructor or martial arts organisation.

Best wishes,

Carol

Hi Carole,

I could just look to utelise the nunchucks domains and tack on a nunchucks shop as I have seen several basic variats, wood, plastic, rubber training etc.

Having sold a lot of mobile phone accessories, I would look to establish a good connection with a UK wholesaler, as well as look to import direct then offer complimentry wholesale offers to instructors, shopes etc as well as sell direct to cash in on the reduced prices of buying direct.

I have a contact at weapons.co.uk, which may be useful, but you sound well plugged in.

Is there a section in your book on nunchucks specifically?

Why just nunchucks?
Boxing gloves, Suite etc might also go down well :-)
Pads?

Are you expert in the arts as well then Redark?

Hi,

another expert, I keen to look at related products, and I have a few names to tie in. The best and highest search terms are the nunchucks and nunchaku which with the domains I have will easily be able to get 1st place listing on google for these products and generate large volumes of FREE traffic to convert into sales.

The nunchucks would appear to be a great starter /specialist product as they are small, easy to send, ideal price and come in many different designs. Beyond the actual product, books and dvds could be sold that complement such as traingin dvd.

Once a nice customer db has been generated further investment, to break into indirect products to the core startegy, could be sought.

I have a lot of projects bubbling, but really want to look at increasing the number of partnerships I am involved in so that I can bring the tech, online marketing and domains to the party, with a partner venturing some cash and niche knowledge to get it to work, as I do not have indepth knowledge of the subject matter.

Any interest?

D

ps. I will be costing and coneptualising this one in the next few days, then will have detailed plans available for prospective partners.

Hi

Selling nunchucks is definitely niche. I can see the logic in terms of varieties, different prices and for ease of sending out. Much less problematic than selling suits which could mean more returns due to wrong sizes etc. I'm not sure what the legal stance is on selling nunchucks or any other martial arts weaponry. As a martial arts student, we were advised to have a licence to purchase such items from the instructor. Not sure how this would apply for buying them online. You would probably need some kind of a disclaimer on site.

Adding on training DVDs could be potentially lucrative.

No, I don't have a section in my book devoted to Nunchaku. My brother does teach it though, as well as other forms of Chinese weaponry, including some that he picked up while training at Shaolin in China.

If you like, I can ask some of my contacts to see if they are interested. What type of investment are you talking about? As soon as you have a plan together, let me know.

Al - Yes, I've been involved with martial arts through my brother for many years and this eventually evolved into film production. It's a long but inspirational story which you'll be able to read in a book that is being published in 2006!

hi crus,

I have a directory site (www.dojodirectory.co.uk). There are about 1500 sensei's email addresses on there who I keep in contact with from time to time.

Through the site I have had personal emails with Geoff Thompson, Dave Turton to name a few.

I also have an account with blitz since I have been considering for a while, selling MA gear.

Last year I realised you (I) can't do too many things at the same time... properly and so right now it is on the back (way back) burner.

Are you into MA? I came over to Bristol once to train at Kevin O'Hagens club at the Robin Cousins Centre. I really enjoyed it.

Hi Seane,

I know exactly wherre your coming from,
sometimes I feel I should consider being a chef with so many burners running!

I like the Dojo site, lot of potential there.

Unfortunately not enough hours in the day for me to get into martial arts, I do and try and keep active with surfing and kites, and have long consideredsome less chilled out activities, and once I get some free time I would love to train in one or two of the arts.

My basis for this business, is my domain ownership which offers great potential, this is why I am looking for a partner / partners who have knwoledge and experience in the field.

Bristols got a good scene, so I am told and we have spoken with many people involved in Bristol via Bristol Directory. If you like I will keep you in the loop on this one and PM you, along with others when I have some solid figures.

Thanks for the input!

indeed this takes me back some years.
I used to prectise Tang Soo doo in london where i used to live.

Had to pull out as i broke some ribs during a sparring match.
Shortly after i left.

It was a shame though i was really getting quite fit and into it.

Have been looking at going back, but i do not really fancy Shotokan which seems to be the main one on offer.
Taekwondo would be my second choice i suppose.

Just thought i would add that :-)
