I've recently been playing around with Google Earth (well, it is christmas and i wasn't in a working mood last week).
If you havent heard of it, it's a new service from Google that allows you to see high res photos of towns and cities around the world. Great fun trying to find your old house and see if you can spot yourself on it.

Anyway, its obviously something that Google are investing a lot of money in and as they're keen on creating new business oportunities for people i have been trying to think up ways of creating business ideas off the back of it.

So far i've come up with zip so i thought i would open it up to the forum to see if anyone else can think of possible business ideas for using Google Earth?

I have used google earth before.

It's very entertaining and is a good way to waste an hour or 2.

But I dont see any major business ideas for it currently.

Yeah I jumped straight onto the bandwagon when I first heard of google maps (the java browser version)
Although it isn't as user friendly as the google earth program, I was able to log our travelling diary http://www.lins-nims.co.uk and pinpoint the exact location of where I was standing when I took a photo. Seeing as the images are getting higher detail all the time, it is excellent to see the satellite photo of what my Diary photo tallys in with.

I agree though it needs to go through some iterations to make it better to use on the browser before it can be considered truly handy.

In Accounts and Finance...:?!

Google Earth's been around for ages now and isn't so great on dialup :x! Can't see any money to be made from it...

yeah I agree with that one ink.

That is probably the main use. To check out destinations before you go.

I love my off roading, and google earth was really useful in the UK, France and Spain to see where farm tracks lead to and find lanes that I otherwise wouldnt know exists before I then can check out if they are green lanes or private.

I liked it, but I found most places in UK were very poor detail when zoomed right in, but other places (USA for eg) were very good detail.
I think as an educational tool it is very good, and of course it has the "wow look at this" factor.
