I have a ltd company with no trading history I'm going to shut down. Can I register as self employed as well whilst the ltd company is going through the process of being shut down?

I an going to send the close a ltd company form back to companies house etc. Can I register with HMRC whilst I am in this process as I am doing some part time work for a company and obviously want to declare it.

The work is separate away from the ltd company. No money has passed into the business account at all so there is no trading history.

I only have a couple of days to register as self employed before getting a 100 fine so need advice quick if possible.

Many Thanks

Yes, is the simple answer.

Having a limited company does not prevent you being self employed.

Also I began working in October. If i register as being self employed on january 3rd what are the chances of being caught or the 4 months before hand?

My income will be around 500 per month from the partime self employed job and 1200 from my fulltime job.

I might have missed the 3 month cut off so if I was to say that I started working after when I actually did, what are the penalties and how would i be caught?

You would be caught because HMRC review these web sites!!!

If you started in October then you will be OK - you have 3 months to register so just do it now
