Has anyone been?
I'm just planning my holiday for 2006 - since December is usually the quietest month it'll be for 3 weeks during December. Has anyone been during December - I understand it's the start of the Summer season.
I'm thinking of going to Auckland, and Christchurch.

I am from New Zealand - in Decemeber goto Wellington its got lots of hot air. The sheep are hard to find as well dont forget your velcrove gloves (I only have one left your welcome to borrow) and most Kiwis are Brits but they hate the Brits so its an excellent place to go!

Thanks, I have a pair of designer velcro gloves :)
So Wellington, is the place to be then? What's do there?

Darren, why not just go to Australia instead?
A lot more sightseeing and generally a better currency conversion where the Pound is more than doubled1 (currently approx £1 =$2.24)
There are some well priced internal flights and coach trips interstate. depending on how long you're planning, I'd start in Melbourne and work your way up to Sydney and then the Gold Coast where the weather's always good and quite a few Brits there also! Oh yeah, there's also plenty of sheep there
