Hi Guys,

Following my last thread I am going to host a charity auction in aid of Cancer Research (changed from my local charity due to more coverage). I am going to contact all the major auction houses in London to see who will host it for me.

Before I can do this I need to show how serious I am and approach them with a nice list of items to auction off.

Any offers would be appreciated, especially signed memorabilia, holidays, etc.

Please feel free to post your offers here.

p.s. please try to keep this thread on track with serious offers, I know how many comedians we have here!!

Many thanks

Claire

Could Darren not help you out with this. He has Villas doesnt he?

Clare, have you thought of contacting the premiership football clubs for signed balls or shirts? They are usually all too willing to help especially a major charity such as this. I could ring BWFC for you and see what I can do. Surely some of the other members could offer to call their home team for you as well.

PM me details of auction etc I have no problem ringing Bolton for you.

Nic

No, I don't own the villas - I specialise in marketing villa holidays.

Claire, I could contact some of my clients and ask them if they were willing to participate, but they would need to see the information of the event on the Cancer Research website - for confidence.

The winner might have to pay a refundable damage deposit.

If you can get Cancer Research to put information of the auction on the website, then I could use this to contact some clients, and see if they would be interested.

Can't promise anything though :)

Hi Claire

I have a signed framed photo of Pierce Brosnan in full James Bond mode that you can have. PM your address and I will try and get it sent to you as soon as possible.

You may find the charity will have a list of celebrity supporters that they can approach on your behalf for signed photographs etc.

When I was fundraising I did a bit of searching on Google on autograph collectors and how they found autographs etc and I found a lot of sites listed where they wrote to, to get their autographs. Using the lists got me a fair amount to auction.

By far the best sellers though are from football and rugby clubs. Team pictures, shirts and balls fetch a lot more money. The best thing to do is ring the clubs and find out who you need to write to etc. (Some clubs will need some sort of covering letter from the charity to prove what you are doing is genuine).

If you do get the celebrity contacts it might be worth adding a theme to the auction. For example as its an art based auction you could get them to something they drew/painted on a set theme.

What ever you do don’t auction them online because you will get next to nothing for them.

Cheers

Nic, thought you specialise in collecting signed balls? ...sorry..couldnt resist.. :P

Would it be best to contact the charity you wish to raise funds for because they will have their own channels and expert in-house

Thanks guys, I thought I'd find the stuff first, but your all right I need the charity behind me.

I'll get onto it in the New year, but please keep your offers of assistance coming. I'm going to save this thread in my favourites in case we get bored of it in a few days and it gets sucked into the vault of forgotten threads, so I can PM you all when I'm ready.

Claire duckling, look at my new, REDESIGNED, site. If anyone does actually come through my site, is it OK that they contact you on the same details on http://www.clairemackaness.co.uk/Other%20pages/contact.htm?

I'll add to it once you send details my way!
