Nigel, that would make Cameron Diaz very young. Im getting worried now, as for Mac, no chance he is mine!

Nic

No way. She's born 30th August '72, which makes her a shade over 33.
Take off 10 makes her 23, which is before the wrinkles and sagging set in, but not too young to know how to cook.
Cheers, Nigel

Do you have any stairs in the new kitchen? By the way were you drinking when you wrote your last post? I thought my spelling was bad. Nigels gonna have you now, he's given up on me (and Nigel, thats correcting my spelling, before your dirty mind takes over)! LOL

p.s. for those of you who are newish, when I first came here and was getting reviews on my site, Nigel used to PM me to complain about my spelling!! hehehe

Hi Gordon, Never give up writing and your desire for self expression. No-one would challenge your spelling because we all understand the meaning :) Merry Christmas!

Hi Gordon,

Join the Dyslexia club, finally i'm not alone

The spell check helps, unless you spell it really bad, then you just choose a different word you can spell better :D

Don't worry, Richard Branson and Linda La-Plant has it too :D

Jayne

25th December 2005, 17:29
not wored I can visulise stairs in 3d not a lot of others can
spell ckequing takes longer and given some of my spellings ether gives words unralated to the one I want or has no sugestions
if it important I get my wife to spell cheque
most pepol understand what I am trying to say

I don't feel you should have anything to worry about, Gordon & Jayne. Can I read it? Yep. Do I care how it's spelt? Nope.

It's not a press release or anything that will make people judge you. Just a place to chat and be yourself.

It used to bother me, I couldn't understand why I couldn't spell some words, yet I had no problem with others. It was an optician who I went private to, who did some tests. I'm only slightly dyslexic, some others are much worse than me, but you learn to cover it up well.

I lost a job once because I mucked up an application form in a newspaper art dept'. Didn't know I had a problem then, thought I was just rubbish at spelling. In the interview they pulled me to pieces and upset me.

I usually keep it to myself, because people like to take the micky out of you, better just to laugh about being bad at spelling.

Hi Jayne
dyslexic is as vared as as the comon cold everyone is difrint
I was in charge of a site once and had to give writen reports every week A smart arse quantity surveyor told me that the office had a good lagh at my reports, to shorten a long story he had to addmit that they had dificulty reading the other site agents reports due to bad writing insted of bad speling

I never coverd up, I learnd was round it

Aoccdrnig to rscheearch at Cmabrigde Uinervtisy, it deosn't mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoetnt tihng is taht the frist and lsat ltteer be at the rghit pclae. The rset can be a total mses and you can sitll raed it wouthit a porbelm. Tihs is bcuseae the huamn mnid deos not raed ervey lteter by istlef, but the wrod as a wlohe.

Jayne
25th December 2005, 20:36
That was great Tony, you could read it as easy to read as normal, very interesting :D

I don't know about you Gordon, but I find it hard reading small writing and big sections of text. I have to read it very slow and do it in sections by covering parts up...it's a lot easier that way :D

Jayne

gordonthegofor
25th December 2005, 20:59
We all have ways of coping
I do a lot of reading (slowly) but I read more than most I know
Tony's post is right, but I can read badly spelt text faster than those with out dyslexia
Dyslexia did not matter 50 years ago as trade peoplel did not need to read
I dont see that it matters apart from to explain bad spelling

Jayne

I just wish i'd have foung out earlier, to get better grades at school. It was always my spelling that knocked marks off.

All the one's I passed were all art type ones, where the grades depended on mainly being creative. I was quite good at tech drawing, I could see shapes in 3 D, if you get what I mean. When I draw, I see shapes in things too, sounds daft, but I see horses in circles.

Jayne :D

gordonthegofor
25th December 2005, 21:10
I wonder if all Dyslexics can visualise in 3D

Jayne
25th December 2005, 21:15
Well if us two can, maybe all others can too.

I've done a lot of reading about it and most dyslexics are good at crafty things and many computer programmers are dyslexic too.

It doesn't bother me now, but until I found out what it was, i'd get embarrassed if I had forms to fill in for things, worried people would think i'm stupid and i'm not.

Jayne :D

gordonthegofor
25th December 2005, 21:22
I did not worry just thought I was stupid

But wanderd why I could see sluisions to problims others were bafaled with

Jayne

Jayne

Jayne

I down loaded the google tool bar onto Outlook, it's really quick, I use it most of the time. I had 7 spelling mistakes in my last post before I google checked it

I sometimes miss whole words out, or put them the wrong way round, spell checks don't work then.

I felt much better when I found out why I was rubbish at spelling, I didn't feel stupid anymore :D

(only 2 cock up's then)

is it open for others to read
just think publick descusion may lend understanding to others

Jayne
25th December 2005, 21:50
Hi,

I just meant a different thread that's all, I don't think Nic will mind us chatting on here.

If you have that big 'e' thing on the computer, you can use that as a browser, then you download the google tool bar and spell check works on anything. You just click it at the top and it highlights the wrong words and you click on them.

Jayne
