OK,
to clarify I dont need to know .co.uk prices as I have already arranged to buy direct from nominet at their wholesale price of £5.00+VAT.
The system I will be offering is standalone registration, not tied to any hosting with full dns management and mail forwarding.
Please only post prices for domain registration alone.
PS thanks justone, can you vote in the poll for me please.

why would someone want to get their domains from you? It would cost more to transfer them onto their hosting than it would cost to register.

OK,
I understand where you guys are coming from, having double figure experience of the interenet and a portfolio of several thousand domains I have suffered the pitfalls of tied deals and transfer away fees etc.
My target audience is not those who get domains as part of a hosting package, but if that describes you look at it this way.
When you sign up for a mobile contract you may not pay for the phone, however the phone is subsidised and you pay for the phone over the lifespan of the contract.
Equally with so called FREE or subsidised offers, you pay for the domain over the lifespan of the hosting agreement which is beneficial but can cause huge pain in certain circumstances.
I use a blend of hosting, off shelf packages like the ones you describe, dedicated machines from similar companies and for the real hottie stuff I run my own servers out of telehouse and red bus cos I dont llike the idea of restrictions or the possibility of someone having a good nose at what I am doing.
Its horses for courses, however in this instance I appreciate the feedback, and I may have to look at rolling hosting services to capture an even wider audience which I can offer through a reseller package a lot cheaper than the 1&1 service for example.
thanks
D
