Hi

thanks for the plug Nigel!

A press release is a description of a newsworthy occurrence written in journalistic style and mailed to news media. A press release is usually intended to promote an event or further the reputation of a facility.

Hi Greig

We charge £150 for a press release, less if you pre-pay for more releases with no time limit on usage: http://www.publicityheaven.com/about/products.php

You'll find prices vary hugely. So most importantly, as with any supplier, shop around to find someone you're comfortable working with.

Think of a press release as one of several tools to achieve your publicity goals. It's an efficient way to distribute a good story, but if you don't have a good story, you're wasting your money.

And you need to find good stories regularly to get repeat publicity, prearably as part of a structured plan. A great PR or publicity advisor will help you regularly find stories the media will likely be interested in.

Hope that helps

I charge similar prices to Publicity Heaven.

I find that most news releases (including any research, drafting and incorporating any amendments requested by the client) generally take no longer than 3 hours. At my rate of £50 per hour this would therefore work out at about £150, or less if it takes me less time to write - a client only pays for the time I spend on their project.

I agree with Publicity Heaven regarding quality - watch out for the 'So What?' factor - if there's nothing 'newsy' in what you want to say journalists won't cover the story. There'll alway be something else for them to cover.

You also can't beat a planned approach - a one-off release in isolation is unlikely to reap rewards when compared to a sustained approach. However, there is an exception to every rule. PR is not an exact science.

All the best,

Lindsey.

Hello,
I offer a Fixed Price press release service that includes writing your release and then researching a distribution list for it and sending it out to the journalists. One of the most important aspects of press releases is ensuring that it ends up under exactly the right journalists' noses and I don't just look for relevant media, but the journalists who specialise in writing about your sort of story/topic within those media.
This service costs £200.
