Paid some cheques into my 12 year old daughters account by mistake on Monday. Went to branch today to transfer from my daughters account to mine the total sum but counter staff wouldnt do it as cheques need 10 working days to clear. However, daughter was allowed to go to ATM and withdraw the cash against those banked cheques which I then paid in to my account.
So why can I draw against cheques from ATM within 48 hrs of banking them but counter staff won't let me do it within 10 days? Something to do with drawing against uncleared cheques at own risk so why should the involvement of a bank teller make any difference - I'm confused:|
