sorry, i have looked, but been unable to find any details of what will happen over the holiday period.
does anyone know - if i try to issue a claim now (i'm planning to process online tomorrow), presumably nothing will actually go out & it will be as if it's issued in 2010?
if so, i might as well wait until 4.1.10?

i'll just quietly nip in & answer my own question...
after a 20min hold , finally got thru to the helpline. only 1 run is done a day at approx 10am, so if i process online before then tomorrow, it will posted out Tues 29th Dec. The defendant will have until approx. 19th Jan to respond (14 days & 5 days for postage).
basically, it's all automated & the system will be programmed to allow a few extra days due to the 3 Bank Holidays coming up.
so there you go! :)
i thought i'd slipped back into an horrendous Monday again for a moment, i'd been on hold for MCOL, 'operators busy blah blah', then the system whacked me thru to Fixed Penalty Notices & she refused to believe i'd been on hold already & was adamant that i'd just dialled the wrong no.!

Go and issue at your local county court instead. That is what I do. Its only a little bit more expensive, and the service is infinitely better.

Agree with YJ.
The other thing you could do Lexxy is write it all out by hand (I will help you with the calculation for fees & interest if you want) and then fax it with a covering note to the company you are chasing saying that you want faxed confirmation of a bacs payment today to avoid the action and incurring the additional fees

good idea Max :) (& thanks for the offer), unfortunately, i just know that won't prompt any response! i got lied to yesterday (we're closed now until 11.1.10) & i've not had any reply to my emails yesterday or today (i know they're still in the office today).
but, i'll suspend my doubt for 5 mins & i'll give it one more go with a fax advising court costs etc
really though, i fear they've got their fingers in their ears & i'm pretty sure i'll be issuing a Claim tomorrow!

You could always pop down to their offices with an "I was passing and thought I would see if I could pick up your cheque whilst I was in the area rather than rely on Christmas post".
I am off out on a debt collection run to two places myself this afternoon
:)
Oh the joys!

the cheque is supposedly already in the post (1st class yesterday), doubt they'd offer me another to be available for pick up & bacs doesn't seem to be in their vocabulary!
hope you have a successful afternoon :)
