I used to live in the Netherlands and like to get back to visit as often as I can. I also play the guitar to relax, though my rock and roll days are behind me now.

Music playing Guitar, Bass, Mandolin. Anything to do with music really. Yeah I love DIY when I have the opportunity which isn't very often at the moment. Teaching English I guess is a paid hobby earning a fraction of what I earn doing the web design but it breaks the day up nicely when I have students. Reading is relaxing too.

I enjoy reading (when I get the opportunity, which isn't often with our nearly 3 year old son!) and holidays in our touring caravan. Oh, and of course, computing.
I also produce the weekly newsletter for our church, which really just uses my skills in a volunteer capacity.

Cycling. I used to do 50 miles everyday, waking up at 6am. Just don't have much time now, and winter just makes me not want to go out anyway. I don't do things just for the hell of it, and cycling in minus temperatures is not fun.

50 miles was split up into 2 areas. I'd do 25 in the morning and 25 in the evening/afternoon, so it was an average of 19mph cycling speed, mainly cos the countryroads involve having to stop so often to look around corners, but I love them for the complete lack of traffic. I'd also bike to Saffron Walden at the weekends which was just under 50 miles and could do that in 2 hours 10.
XBox, too. Splinter Cell/Pro Evo.
I also enjoy reading philosophy, such as Wittgenstein, Russell, Hume, Jung, Ayer, Camus and Satre.

I am very big on online games (FEAR, Battlefield2, Quake etc etc). Nothing like running around with a machine gun and blasting everything that moves to get rid of a bit of stress.
Just got two Rosella birds which are taking up a fair amount of my time.
My biggest time killer though is doing up the house which seems to be constant this year. I am on first name terms with most of the staff at my local B&Q now

I enjoy yacht sailing and plan to buy a yacht next year when I get back to the UK. I usually sail from the River Hamble, across the Solent to Poole, Yarmouth, Cowes, Cherbourg, St Malo, St Peter's Port, St Helier, Alderney etc. Sailed to most of those ports back in Sept for 1 week and did 320 nauctical miles. Experienced to day-skipper level.
I also enjoy reading John Grisham novels. Just finished his latest book called 'The Broker'. Waiting for the next one. I also enjoyed reading my idol's autobiography, Sir Richard Branson, 'Losing my virginity'

I've recently taken up Scuba Diving and am now PADI Advanced Open Water qualified. I'm hoping to combine this with my other passion, photography but am still getting used to not drowning so dont want to add too many other gizmos to the equation.

I feel the same about my job. I started learning programming at 15, and web design at 13, purely as a hobby. I'd still probably be doing it in the evenings if I wasn't doing it as a fulltime job.
A new hobby of mine has been harassing Nic. Puts her in her place

i feel quite boring now, everyone has such interesting lives
I also enjoy reading John Grisham novels
i agree with this, just read it - a return to form as i dont think The Last Juror was anywhere near as good as his previous
I've recently taken up Scuba Diving
tried this when i lived in scotland and loved it. my dad is fanatical with it. he recently had the worst case of the bends through no fault of his own in the caribbean though and we nearly lost him so it makes me possibly re-think (not to put you off diving)
I like watching TV (for CSI, Forensic files or anything to do with murder and crime !!).I like watching TV (for CSI, Forensic files or anything to do with murder and crime !!).
another one i agree with csi is tremendous.
claire - you mentioned you like Lost - i just got the whole first series as copied box set as i never watched it on tv and i have to say it has the most f*****g annoying, irritating and stressful ending of anything i have seen. if you have not seen it yet i guarantee you will tear your hair out waiting for series 2. (i have already ordered a copy)
Other than these, being a weekend dad to two kids by two ex-wives i spend weekends travelling the country to pick them up and my hobbies are their hobbies. My oldest is a nine year old girl so usually girly clothes shopping  but my son is only 4 months old so he is easy to please :D

- My family. I do all I can to help my children realise their full potential.
- The piano, and I'm something of a classical music buff.
- Chess, although I haven't played seriously for 25 years.
- Soccer (oops, I mean football). I have coached most of my children, and my oldest son has just been appointed captain of his college team.
- Thinking, which I'm poor at, but I enjoy anything that is mentally challenging.
As for anything practical, forget it! I have to read a manual to change a light bulb.

I did play a bit of guitar, but haven't picked one up in 10 years so would not know where to begin now unfortunately.
Kickboxing was something I got into for a while, but time restraints mean that I hardly ever go now and unless you go regularly it's pointless.
Golf is a hobby that I would like to do more of. (I found it about 9 years ago and became hooked at once).
Motor racing, and Formula 1 in particular, are big interests of mine. I am a member of Team Mclaren so my loyalties are firmly with the boys in silver.
I try to see Manchester United whenever I can, but that is a 5 hour round trip and a minimum £120 spend nowadays!!
I also like to learn new things, read as much as I can, listen to inspirational people.
However, my wife and family come first above all those. :)
