Hi, my name is Colin.

I am an independent IT consultant who has over the past year had to reassess my mode of work, by expanding more of my activities online.

My company is Dynastream Ltd, and I usually freelance within large businesses assisting them with their business requirements. Outside of this, I have assisted much smaller businesses with some their needs.

I am working on a number of new directions, and I aim to build on these slowly over the next year or so.

This forum is one of my first steps in a my new direction, and I hope to perhaps network with a few individuals or socialize.

Thanks.

Thanks for the welcome.

By the way, if anyone has any comments about the website (e.g. visually), please feel free to mention it. It does not have much on it yet, I have been pressed for time.

Oh god, don't get this lot started on website reviews! There's a 7 page thick thread about website reviews in one section!

Your logo reminds me of the Playstation buttons, by the way!

The IT technician at school just comes and prods the computers when they aren't working - Apparently thats what IT technicians do lol!

Anyway welcome to the forums!

Liam

Website review?

Oh no! That won't be necessary. It is only really an extension of my business card at present. I dont believe there will be too much in the way of much content initially. Most of my work comes through networking or agencies. I am and will be busy with several other related things.

Jayne, glad you like the logo. Thanks.

Cheers.

Yes.
Strange as it may seem, much of the corporate work is performed sub-contracting through either agencies, or much larger consultancies.

In many cases, the conventional and public face, or business presence of a typical contractor or 'umbrella' contractor is not 'extensive' in terms of marketing brochures or even business cards, i.e. it can be quite minimal except for example where 'extra curricular' activities are involved.

My own 'extra curricular' activities over the past few years have grown significantly.

The last time I made a complete break, such as to be, more or less totally independent of agencies, was some six years ago with a partner. The overheads became too costly, in addition to marketing and sales efforts, and working full-time on quite technical projects. The revenue stream was also much less!

Technology, the internet and related business support structures are now far more mature. Increasingly helpful, is the growth and penetratration of computers, awareness of standards, into medium and smaller sized businesses.

Which all makes the job of selling services, that much easier.

Hi Colin,

Welcome to the forums. I started out as a IT contractor too and moved along the route you seem to be going now. Good luck with it, if there is anything I can do to help then please do get in touch. You'll find the everyone here is very friendly and happy to help wherever they can.

And never underestimate what could happen if you ask anyone here for feedback on a website!

Nope, you're not the only one. I don't like the rest. That baby freaks me out.

Hi

I really dont like that doll, it looks like something off a horror film, that guy look threatening as if he is going to set the boys on you and that lady looks slumped at her desk either with the drink or with boredom.

I do like th jigsaw piece3 and the colour not too bad, although not really a lover of royal blue.

Nic

Thanks to all for the comments on the visuals. I am quite pleased, in that it justifies what I wanted to achieve.

It was meant to be slightly different and more evocative in 'company' business colours. My other 'home' site has different green scheme.

Also it differs from the more safer/usual white background type sites.

Cheers All.
