View Full Version : Giving old PC's away from Business

I like to replace the business PC every couple of years and then use the
old ones for storage and as back ups.

I always like to have about 3 for business use at all times, one as my main
PC, one which is loaded virtually the same and can be switched over at
any time, and one for storage and as an extra back up.

I'm about to get a new one which means I'll have a spare one which is
about 5 years old.
Can I just give that one away to my self for the kids to use or do I
have to pay my business for it?

If its 5 years old, it should be a dead asset anyways, and been depreciated to zero by now anyways, so should be no problem in just replacing it with the new one.

I never give them a longer lifespan than 5 years when depreciating them, and never had any probs that way.

Thanks, do you have to account for them in any way, or can you just
treat them as being scrapped/replaced every 5 years?
Is it the same for printers too?
