I am 17 years old and currently doing AAT Level 3 - Diploma pathway.

I progressed onto A-Levels from GCSE's, and didn't brace myself enough and the reality of A-Levels struck. I've always wanted to be a chartered accountant and after messing up my A-Levels, I thought I can't give up on the dream.

So I looked into the AAT qualification and decided to do it!

My question is should I progress onto ACA or ACCA? And will not having a degree
make a substantial effect on my future career?

In the future I hope to open a Accounting firm with my best friend, if all goes well.

Many Thanks,

Dipak

ACA or ACCA willl really depend very much on where you end up after completing the AAT. Both are equal qualifications and will enable you to achieve your goal.

I wouldnt worry too much about the decision now. I'd concentrate on getting through the AAT and then see what oppurtunities are availiable to you then.

Good luck with the studies!

If you get either ACA or ACCA then whether you had a degree or not is fairly irrelevant as the ACA/ACCA stands above a degree. I went onto to ACCA straight after A levels and not having a degree has never even been mentioned at job interviews - in my case, all potential employers were interested in was the ACCA qualification and relevant experience.

AAT will get you nicely onto ACA or ACCA.
I wouldn't worry about not having A-levels or degree. Level 3 AAT is equivalent to A Levels and level 4 is 1st year degree equivalent and it's relevant to what you're aiming to do.

Best of luck with your studies :)
