Hello,
In sept 2008 myself and a colleague set up a business but filed the Dormant Company form to HMRC in the first month as we realised it would be a while before we commenced trading. For the first year I have sent the annual return and the DCA form to Companies House. Is there anything else that I need to consider?

I get the impression that tax returns (CT600) may need to be sent to the HMRC but surely as its dormant this isnt relevant? If it is necessary then how long do you have to submit these for year 1?

Thanks in advance

You need to tell HMRC there is no tax due - they should know this if you filed a dormant CT 41G but I wouldn't rely in it!

Thanks for your quick reply.
So does that mean I have to submit the tax returns anyway?

Did you file in a dormant CT41 G?

If so then no return, see here:

Yes I sent the CT41G (Dormant company insert).

Just querying it as it seems people have mentioned submitting tax returns full of zeros when they are dormant.

Thanks again

I am in a similar situation with a dormant company. I have completed the Annual Return. BUt do I legally have to send in anything else to the companies house. Do you have to send in a DCA, or are there exemptions?

There are no exemptions to filing accounts.
