Should you warn a potential client that they are perhaps being scammed?

Reviewed a potential customer and discovered they are signed up to a service to guarantee a page 1 placement for 120/month. The company is using adwords, so presumably the ad only shows once... The company has an entry on scam.com along with a 'customer' defending them...

So how do you go about diplomatically warning the potential client without sounding like you're putting the competition down...

I would say it depends on your relationship with them, If from what you are saying you are reveiwing thier site then i would say its your responsability to point it out and make them aware of the advantages and disadvantages of this service.

Make them aware without too much emphasis on the other company and you will have done all you can

If I was the customer in question, I would probably want to know. Sure, my first thought would be 'yeah yeah you would say that' but if I could see I actually was being scammed I would be grateful to you.

Just my thought anyway.....

Yes, same as.
As long as you phrase it the right way, I'd have thought it's definitely best to tell them.

I recently had just the same issue the phrases were such low volume that the clicks would have been negligible but the set price per month sounds so attractive to people.

Effectively people become obsessed with ranking over converting and sometimes no matter what you do you can't make them see why its not the way forward.

I can also imagine how the campaigns would have been set-up (YUCK) in the end I completed the PPC work for the client (with a lot more care than the other company that's for sure) at a ridiculously low rate to stop them being scammed.
