Hello everyone,

New to this site.....but have an immediate need for information, if anyone can help?
Im not involved with any of the MLM companies now, but have been years ago. However, despite my lack of success, think that the MLM business model is fascinating.
I have an idea which will be of interest to many people in a b2b environment and think it would be great to roll it out using a MLM system/structure.

However, I do not understand the different types of payplan/commission structures that are in operation and would love to know exactly how all the percentages are worked out and the way these things are structured etc. etc.

I imagine there are a number of different schemes all based on a similar model - some perhaps better than others in terms of revenue stream possibilities? I hope someone can help, even if its pointing me in the right direction where to look!!

Many thanks in advance

Richard

If you search for MLM in this forum you will find plenty of discussions on the pro's and con's. The biggest issue is that many people have a real problem with the whole concept and that is always going to be your biggest challenge. Also I would say think about the product and the market first and the compensation plan second. There seems to be more and more schemes which are based around either a product most people dont buy or something they could buy much cheaper outside of MLM.

Hi Gary and thanks for your thoughts........yes, you are right with the order of things. I had got the product/service described to me and saw the market and realised how simple it was - then the notion of being able to duplicate the opportunity to many people seemed the most obvious way forward.......you know leverage the thing and everyone wins.
I get so excited because it all makes so much sense. Its finding the words to explain it to others so they can see the bigger picture which is where I might struggle??
In some of the MLM companies Ive been involved with, its been a nightmare......theres no fun in trying to sell product thats overpriced, that no one needs and then trying to persuade others to copy you....no matter how big your 'WHY' is!!!
Its a racket......however, the MLM philosophy is great for everyone if youve got a great product/idea AND theres a true market i.e. demand.

Then it really explodes into action I guess!

Sounds great doesn't it - I've almost convinced myself...... LOL

Well perhaps you need to see if friends and family would buy the product without the MLM element first. All the pills and potions are things that some would pay for, many others not.

MLM = multi-level-marketing (network marketing)

my advice would be: you need to focus on two groups: those who want to buy the product and those who want the business opportunity.

meaning: you need to be able to serve TWO markets.

and if you want to build solid downlines, they have got the be built on a business opportunity, not a "squeeze your friends and family", otherwise you're going to end up in the NFL (no friends left) very soon.

especially with a b2b model.

if it really is a b2b product, you'll likely need to have a great education programme for your downline, since it's probably not common sense and as easily grasped as aloe vera, pots 'n pans etc.

the MLM programmes I know typically have very strong education and incentive programmes for their 'partners'.

This post gives wonderful information. Network marketing is one of the highly motivated business forms. Network marketing deals with products and services. The products sold through network marketing are usually department products. And the exclusive level of service offered to the customers is a considerable part of the product's value.

tried it, tested it and binned it with my business. The trouble I see with MLM is the people you get in are 'pond jumpers'. They will go form one MLM to the 'next biggest explosion' in the UK, and all time losing credibility. There are some that work very well, (FLP, UW et al) but very few start ups survive unless you have all the tools necessary.
I found MLMers to be very lazy.
But....... don't let me put you off! ood luck and I hope you have great success.
