I've been watching a visitor on my site go back and forth from one product to another. This is the 6th time the visitor and visited since last night and my stats show:

http://www.devilwear.co.uk/store/product...2_42&products_id=535 - 10:28:04 Sun 18th December 2005
http://www.devilwear.co.uk/store/product...22_29&products_id=73 - 10:28:04 Sun 18th December 2005
http://www.devilwear.co.uk/store/product...2_42&products_id=535

and it just keeps going back between these two every few seconds. I'm guessing it's some sort of robot doing this but why? The products aren't directly linked from each page. It's been there 12 minutes now doing the same thing.

The IP address of the visitor points to dynamic.dsl.as9105.com if that helps.

i get the same, i use an osCommerce based store, so track like you! when i installed it i said yes you can have persistand connections i presume it is a robot as well. i wouldnt worry about it, its when you get the same thing having 1000 connections to your site you need to worry. i dont think you should be bothered yet.

Maybe it's stuck in a loop and will eventually time out?

I have livechat on my site which also tells me what a visitor is doing in real time. It went on for 2 hours before it stopped! Hopefully it wont come back. I was just worried it was a robot who was only spidering (or what ever th word is) those two pages and nothing else. Don't mind too much as I usually rate quite highly on Google but just thought it was strange.

Try putting the IP address into the various options on this site:
http://www.dnsstuff.com

it lets you check if it is a known spammer for example.
