I was just thinking that I have no idea what a lot of the forum members actually do. This got me wondering if it might be an idea to either:
a. Expand the members list section to include a key word section i.e. IT, Marketing, Accountants, so that if I wanted to find someone the dealt with a particular area I could look through and contact them;
or
b. Have an online directory split into different business categories, then the different members could put their business names under the relevant sections.
Just an idea.

Agreed. Everyone on here is quite likely to add what their occupation is, so why not allow us to search for it?

Not sure I like the idea.
Active members will post in the forum, and usually include a signature which gives you an idea of the sector of business they work in.
Could you get people doing a search for a specific business, and using this list of members to target spam in their PM box?

But that's the same as any marketing. Moment you sign up on here you can be technically PM'd. I'd like it to be able to find any copywriters/printing companies to work with and why not via a trusted source? Sure, if they post more and talk to me I'm more likely to trust them, but I've had some members on here contact me who I've not even seen posting.

i am a little undecided on this one,
it would be a good resource to have a directory but it would then be very easy for single post members to spam everyone else via pm
tricky one indeed!

. . . but I've had some members on here contact me who I've not even seen posting.
Happened to me today.
The PM'er had only one post (and NO introduction) and had joined very recently.
This, I guess, could be viewed as spamming, because it may be suggested that there's an ulterior motive to joining UKBF.
Anyway, not to overlook a prospective opportunity, I'll consider the offer over the weekend.

I had that message today, Nige. Someone offering me something that I ignored. But the person I was referring to called me up and I found their thread about it just today.
They just happened to be reading the forums and found me. Could have made it a lot easier if they could have searched for a web designer.

But some of us don't have occupations! You only need to be 13 to use the forums! Where would I go? My own little section? lol

Great idea, Urb.
We'll get Ozzy to set one up.
Kids' Korner sound a bit like a cartoon show, so I'll recommend Kids' Konference Kradle. By the way, where's your 'associate'?
'Honey' wasn't it? Oh no, got it now, Hannah.
Perhaps she's been inspired by Claire and is out squeezing tubes onto canvas or crocheting quilts.
Gotta go and do some serious posting
See ya, Nigel

Suggest that access to the Member Directory is restricted to a set criteria i.e. member for more than 6 months, 100 posts, etc

Excellent idea, and most workable.
