I am considering a major overhaul of our core site to bring it up to date with online booking etc and so it can be hooked up with our reservation system.
What ballpark figure is a site like this (http://www.exodus.co.uk) or a site like this (http://www.oars.com)
Thanks

as lot of things like this, depends on the back end, I do have a freelance developer who developer a similar site that turns over alot of money, if you PM I will let you have his email address, but as he is free lance it would be an hourly rate and not fixed, and he is good and not cheap, but very nice fella who should be able to advice you if nothing else.
Good Luck
Edit: i don't have a freelance developer, but I know one.

I agree, the website front end is simple to design but without knowledge of the back end system you cannot make an accurate or a ball park figure.
Creating the back end is where the majority of money (and time) would go.
There are companies who have ready made systems that can then be tailored to your website.
My advise is to go with someone with a reputation for this.

Have a back end called tourcms which runs all our business. It also runs a lot of other travel companies websites. So it will be case of hooking up with that.
To date I have always pushed people to call or email but I think it is time I let them book online.
However, last time I did it back in 2003 it cost me £ as the GBP often just book the cheapest when online rather than being sold the value when the speak to us and I cannot afford to make it a race to the bottom!

I think i may be misunderstanding.
You already have back end?
then you only need a graphic designer to create the design you like and then a programmer to mesh the two.
A team should be able to put a front up fairly reasonably.

In that case, I wouldn't think it would be that expensive, but not being in the know I wouldn't like to offer a price either. But I would have thought if you contact them they might be able to recommend a web designer to build what you want, that way you will get a quality product.
The problem whch might cause issues is either finding a developer who knows the cms that will do a quality job but quicker, or finding a developer who is good that but not familiar but will need a little more time.
Good Luck

I would say the best place to find more accurate info is from http://community.tourcms.com/forum
Cause it is better to get it done from the developers who has used it or know how it works. I guess you can find more number of developers from that community?
Hope that helps

The best way to find out is to go to either elance , scriptlance or rentacoder, and ask a price for a clone - taking only the figures from companies with massive feedback - indeed, you can select that option on scriptlance.
I think you will be gobsmacked how little you have to pay.... particularly if the shopping cart/sort engine is already done, and only needs integrating.
It costs nothing to find out...
There are two phases, first creating it, and then populating with data....depends whether you want both or just the first.
