Was recomended this forum by Cheryl Rickman in her book 'The Small Business Start-Up Workbook'. Looks very useful.

Have just started a web design company in my spare time, specialising in accessible website design.

What a site! By far the best web designing company I've seen! And what an achievement, all this in your spare time! Fantastic!

Thanks folks...

In Cheryl's book there is a big resource of online forums at the back. That's where is saw the link. Have tried em all, but this, as well as the LiveWIRE one, looks the best of the bunch.

Regarding my portfolio....to be honest the work thats in there is quite old and isn't up to scratch with the standards i have set myself. This will be updated soon when i've added my latest projects!

Cheers

Have just started a web design company in my spare time, specialising in accessible website design.

When i select 'Text Size> Larger' in my browser... your text does not go larger.. how can you claim to build accessible sites? good job i am not partially sighted.

sorry, i don't get it.

I've since realised this since i made the site.. A few people have made a comment about it. Am currently designing a new style sheet with bigger text that the user will be able to change.

I should have used em instead of pixels i know...just kinda rushed it out a bit thats all. Thanks for the feedback.

of course i am also colour blind...shades of green make it very difficult for me to define anything at all..
so your green on green text and subtle shades give me panic attacks... and i couldn't find the text only version of the site...

of course i am just pulling your leg..it's a beautiful looking site..but claiming to be accessible, that's a whole new ball game and one you should lose from your sales pitch.

You're right it's something i haven't really accounted for on this site, but as i say it was rushed and any project i took on i would make sure was accessible as possible.

As we speak the sitemap is being made, as well as the css image replacement so the headers can be read by anyone not able to see images.
I'm also completely reworkign the web design section so it has less jargon etc.

Lets just say its a work in progress so any feedback is very much appreciated!

I am told that green and red are the worst colours for colour blindness, I only found this out as an IT trainer teaching poeple to use a piece of web based software that was colour oordinated. No one developing it bothered to think that people might be colour blind.

But then that was few years ago before it was illegal ;)

it's not your site that's the worry, it's all the sites in your portfolio that you may have claimed to have made 'accessible', when they probably aren't. Let's hope they don't come back complaining.

I think all the sites look great... personally i can barely build sites at all :), so i can hardly point the finger :) but then i don't try and give the impression that my sites are accessible to all.

I work on a "if it works" basis ;)

Beautiful site by the way Kev :D

Had to put my specks on, but apart from that it's one of the nicest I've seen.

The portfolio section doesn't have links because my old sites were built in tables and aren't up to standard with what i can do now.

These will be updated when i get some more work in. Have 3 jobs on the go at the minute, so when they are all done and my site is reworked as before mentioned, i will then be completely happy with it.

Am also workign on ym graphic design portfolio as well, so i maye link to that.
