I am looking for some help on the name for my website and shop. I have a great web guy who is helping me with the designing etc and came up with a great slogan of contempory things for a contempory life. The website and shop shall be selling modern living, lighting, art and jewellery. The main theme of the shop is Modern Designers.
The first name we came up with was THE UNO GALLERY but are slightly concerned that people will think we sell only art.
The second we have come up with is THE UNO.
The Third we have come up with is UNO DESIGN.
The fourth is UNO STYLE.

Could people have me make a decision as I am needing to make a decision soon.

hmm,

please dont take offence, but it doesnt half remind me of a card game! Does it HAVE to be UNO?
Out of the 3 I think I prefer "THE UNO", I agree that the gallery variation my lead people to believe it is only art.

I agree with confused...

But you could work around the word contemporary or modern, to get that into you new name.

Contemporary Class or something along those lines. The word UNO makes me think of cars.

Hi Saz,

Coming from a different angle, I feel that anything with a 'NO' in its title presents negativity. Shall we go in there? Oo, no! Bit of a long bow, I know, but worth considering.

On the other side of the coin, it's a very 'cosmopolitan' name, and may well suit a very 'trendy' area, especially if situate next to 'Vitus Urbana' or similar.

So, if you are hooked on your slogan, why not capitalise on it?

Contempo!
Contemporary things for a contemporary life.

I would retain the exclamation mark to add emphasis.

Cheers, Nigel

Isnt the Uno also a name for a car...its possible people will connect it with that as well. Are you determined to stick with the word UNO for any special reason?

So UNO has worked for all these other famous brands, I wonder if they had the same dilema?

Hello,

I beg to differ! I think 'Uno Style' sounds great - the word UNO has a pleasing modern design in itself and didn't actually put me in mind of the card game or the car.

But you do also have to consider the URL for your shop and something that says a little about what you offer would be beneficial. Competition will include Nono, Ocean, Vanilla and if you can invent an URL that immediately identifies what you offer, it would set you apart from these sites. You could look into www.unostylishliving.co.uk or unohome.co.uk or maybe www.unolife.co.uk...

Your designer at Creospace is brilliant and will shoot me for saying this but I am not completely convinced about the slogan either! 'Things' isn't a very inspiring word for art and what defines a contemporary life? The slogan is really important and could do with some brainstorming, I think! I worked on the slogan for www.candlesent.co.uk for about two months with the director before we came to an agreement!! That's an extreme example but it's vital to get it right before launch.

If you'd like to talk more about this, get in touch... anna@copyqueen.co.uk.

good luck in the meantime!

Just 'UNO' would work - easy to spell and remember, as long as the URL contains a keyword too (could be from the slogan).

Uno is a card game for me, forgot there was a car as well.

Just shows more than one product can have the same name.

UNO DESIGN implies you do the designing. Do you? if not

UNO STYLE is more accurate.
