Has anyone seen the series Mind Your Own Business starring Duncan
Bannatyne (one of the dragons on dragon's den) and Mrs S where they advise struggling small businesses on how to turn themselves around, by examining how more successful, similar, firms are running things ?

Quite interesting the things they suggest......

Yes, have seen it and love it even though it is on in the very early hours. Worth watching if you get the chance. They tend to target the smaller retail businesses.

Apparently Duncan Bannatyne owns a chain of health clubs, but have not come across any of his yet. Are they all in Scotland? Can't rem what Mrs S does...but she is very good with developing staff, thats for sure!

Thats why I love it, it is normally the small one man biz or family biz they help, it is very interesting seeing how they improve things and how the participents take the criticism

I saw her in a program called boss swap and she runs a business that makes garage doors. They roll up and down!

She must smoke about 500 a day to get a voice like that.

It was on at 11:30 in the morning the last time I saw it, maybe the repeats are shown at a silly hour.

It's a bit like "Changing Rooms" for business, and Duncan Bannatyne is a lot softer in this programme than he is in Dragons Den!

Half an our is not really long enough to do the subject justice, but there are a few tips to be had if you are in retail.

dragons den yes good program but i dont think its a good idea using someone who has gone bankrupt and has totally ignored her suppliers
she is sitting there with millions stashed away
good advertisement for people trying to improve there business

Another one that is being shown here is "Trouble at the top"

Anyone know it, again quite interesting from a business point of view.

i do like trouble at the top

when you see features on huge businesses who have made major and costly mistakes is always reassuring :)

the one that always sticks in my mind (knew of it before trouble at the top featured it) as it goes down in folklore now is Coca Cola developing NEW coke (they made it taste like pepsi) in the eighties

it just always made me laugh that in america there were campaigners in the street with placards and chanting to bring back old coke!! it is scary that the petitions generated more names than some major political debates!! only in america :D

as we are all now well aware coke admitted they were wrong and changed it back
