I've recently started a blog on Wordpress but when I do a Google search it only comes up when I click 'search the web' and not when I click 'pages from the UK'.
Is this normal ? If not, is there anything within my control that I can do to rectify this so that UK searches list the blog in its results ?
Thanks

Where is the blog hosted and what is the top level domain extension?
It sounds like Google has found and indexed your blog but isn't recognising it as a UK site.

I agree with the above. But would add if you verify the site with Google Webmaster tools then you can specify that the site is UK based. That should get it showing in the UK listings.

Thanks both. The site is hosted by Wordpress. I have verified the site with Google webmaster so I'll go back in and specify that is a UK site and hopefully that will sort it.

You will get more benefit if you host the blog on your own site at domain.co.uk/blog or /news

For aorund $10 /yr you can use your own domain name with wordpress.com.
And, definately, just tell google your content is UK specific. Google does not care where the server your blog is running on is physically located.
Finally, might want to consider a tool like feedburner for better tracking/stats of your blog posts.

Is your blog hosted on a UK IP address because this can mean that the UK google search engine wont pick up your site, a friend of mine had this problem?
