Guys, I have a card from a mobile phone (that has photos on) and I want to transfer to my pc. Now the card is teeny tiny and I need something to fit into my reader on the pc - is it an adapter? what's it called and where would I get it from ?:|

Hi

The card you have described sounds like a MicroSD card. So you will want a memory card reader. Most memory card readers accept a wide variety of cards, but its worth checking it supports that one.

Many Thanks

can you not just plug the phone in as a mass storage device?

size does not matter as it is acting only as an adaptor, so unless it is faulty it will work with your card.

Hiya,

Have a look on eBay for an SD Card, quite often they are actually microSD cards with an adapter. I got a couple last month at a very reasonable price.

I always buy the smallest physical card (microSD) and use an adapter to 'big it up' to the form factor I need - this means the memory card lasts longer as it's more likely to work with any future devices!

Chat soon.

If it's an M2 card, it's a Sony MemoryStick Micro . They usually supply an adapter with the card so it'll fit in a proper memory stick.

I've also got an adapter to go from M2 card to USB - if the stuff you've got is non-urgent, I can do the data transfer for you. If you're interested, drop me a PM and I'll let you know where to send the card (I still use it regularly, so don't really want to send the adapter the other way)

Alternatively, if you've a friend/contact with a Sony phone, they'll be able to put the card in and then transfer the data that way.

Hey,

If you look around you can find Card readers made for lots of different cards, I've had mine for years (my new computer can read card directly).

So card reader is your best option, I think the one I have supports most types of cards, and they're a great little thing to have around. Wish I could remember where I got mine so I could be more help, sorry!
