Work in teams of about 10.
All call at the same time, the first 9 all do the normal sales speil.
Then the last pretends to be giving away something or calling someone back about something related to what your selling, but they didnt leave their name. The receptionist will be in a grind after the last callers and will be more likely to put you thorugh then.

Just do anything you can to get past the receptionist.

Then you can do the speil.

At this point id like to say ive never done telemarketing but have a friend who has.

What do you need?

Well Michael

A script to sell debt collection services would be a start. We are ok with warm calls, but cold calling is proving to be a nightmare with everyone denying they have debt and firmly believing they never will in the future! Which is of course totally naive if you give out credit terms.

That's basically it!

Any help would be warmly welcomed and appreciated.

Hey Nic,

Do you get lists of companies just have gone down the pan and who they owed money to?

I reckon they would be good people to call as they'd just been stung.

Do you know, I don't think those lists exist but if anyone knows of any marketing lists that are available with similar details I would be definitely interested.

Thanks for the tip Rob

If you take a look here:

http://www.ebonybailey.co.uk/training.php

we offer a free download script. its basic in its setup, and you need to fill in the gaps, however the short sharp approach works the best.
In your case I would suggest sticking away from negatives, make them feel like its their idea that they should take you on. instead of saying you need us, say we help companies that do not have the time nor the resources to deal with this area, which is natural as they want to concentrate on their core business etc..
Let me know if I can help any more, happy to.

Michael,

just downloaded your script and i do like it

up until recently i have been writing all our telesales scripts and training the telesales people but have never used such a short succinct pitch!

i will definately put a couple of people to work using it and post some feedback here - thanks

Happy to help.

As I said, and rule of thumbs is after your intial intro you have 12 seconds to promote your business.
-Always start with:

Hello my name is Michael and Im calling from XXX, are you aware of the company?

They will say No, which is a good thing, it gives you the Opp to explain who you are.

If you have any large clients that they may be aware of its always good to name drop so they know your not just another company.

If you want anymore advice let me know.

Michael

I just wanted to say good luck because this is where I started my sales career many, many years ago for the Transnational Corporation based in Manchester. I can still remember the pitch to this very day!

There is a list of businesses and individuals with debt problems. In Scotland it's called the Edinburgh Gazette, I can't remember what the English equivalent is called (it might be called the London Gazette...). We used to use it a few years ago to identify prospects for corporate recovery and insolvency work (nothing's sacred is it?). You can subscribe to it. Where action has been taken against a debtor the details of the injured party are usually noted.

As for personal selling and lead generation? I got lots more...

That's why there ought to be a law against telemarketing!
