If I have say an article on Birthday Teddy Bears on one of my site pages should I have links in that article that link back to my Birthday Teddy Bears page? if so how many links should I put in that article?

What is the point of the article? Is it to tell the visitor what a birthday teddy bear is or to promote your products?

Don't see a problem linking to the product pages as long as it fits in with the flow of the article. One link is all you need because one assumes there are already links in the main navigation.

That is what I would do.

I would add as many as makes sense to your site visitor and no more.

link the target term back but make sure that the same term is not reciprocated.
i would only link back 2 terms to any given page
