I need to get round to winding up a company that hasn't traded for nearly 2 years now. Its coming up to the time when I need to submit accounts for the last period (while the company has been dormant) so figure this is a good time to get everything dealt with.
Basically... I need to know whether I need to submit dormant accounts to Companies House for the last accounting period or whether the winding up notice is going to be enough?
If I do have to submit dormant accounts I'm going to need a bit of advice. I've downloaded the electronic version of the form and have had a few small issues with the balance sheet - essentially it warns me that the figures from both years don't match, which it says they should on dormant accounts.
The reason the figures don't match is because the cash that was in the bank at the end of the last period was used to pay off the tax bill that we had and creditors.
Is this a fairly normal thing? I'm not sure if I'm doing this properly but just want to get it dealt with swiftly. I've already closed the bank accounts, transferred domains etc.
Also, how do I go about giving notice to HMRC? I did speak to them on the phone a while back and they said that they don't see any problem as there is no tax to be paid. I'm not sure if this is enough notice though?
Advice appreciated.
