Hey chaps,

I posted recently about some of my emails ending up in people's spam boxes. Meaning - I maybe losing out on possible clients!

Dwebs-Ltd kindly sent me a message explaining that:

Domainkeys + dkim will fix this.

I've done a search on google... and it seems it is possible to install it on directadmin (thats my control panel) however - it's not as simple as other control panels?

I'm not the best at this sort of thing... so how easy is it to mess everything up?! Will it effect anything else on the server?

As soon as the server's are up again (seems all of uk2 are down), I'll be attempting to give it ago.

Do you have a managed server? If so contact the company who looks after the server to do it for you.

Carl,

A friend owns the server. He's rather busy at the moment. Hence me looking into it my self :(

Would hosting your email elsewhere not be an option? Some DNS tweaks and you would be sorted. The website would stay where it is etc.

never even thought about that Dwebs!

With my domain being with 123reg - I'm pretty sure they host email since I bought it from there.

123-Reg don't do DomainKey's or DKIM I believe so you would be back to square one :(

Uhmmm I've just opened up a support ticket with them... very quick to respond!

They said it is possible for them to host the emails... but never mentioned domainkeys / dkim....

Sneeky!

I'll do it the hard way!

p.s - is there no installer?! :D

The 123-reg DNS Management tool only supports the following record types;

A
CNAME
TXT
SPF

123-reg DNS Management does NOT support:

SRV
DKIM (DomainKeys)
PTR (Reverse DNS)
AAAA (IPv6)

In addition, we do not allow users to modify TTL settings.

Just to confirm.... thats what 123-reg said in the last support ticket.

bummer!

Why don't you move your hosting to a "proper" provider rather than hosting on a friends server? A proper host will provide you with the support you clearly need and a working email system. :)

It works perfectly fine :D I don't need the support. Only a glitch with the email which I hope to sort later today... *cough*

Plus - it's free? :D

It isn't working fine, if your legitimate emails are not reaching potential clients inbox's? ;)

You do need the support, otherwise you wouldn't be asking here how to install Domainkeys.

It might be free, but free isn't always best if you are running a professional business. :)

"I don't need the support"...

opps - I didn't mean it like I was some arrogant sod.

IMO, everything is fine. It has been fine. No problems at all, just got to fix this small thing and thats it... it will be perfect :) (is what I meant)
