Hi All,

I am new to the forums and run a small marketing company in Leicestershire. Hopefully I will be able to offer some useful good advice and learn some new things too!

Out of work I have just started getting into the fitness bug. I have decided to get off my backside and get fit with the aim of doing a marathon next year. Now this may sound irrelevant but I have also decided to launch a new website based on the theme of social networking but with 'Getting People Fit' as a goal.

I want to launch the site at the beginning of December. Not sure I am allowed to post a link to it here - so won't at the mo but please let me know if i can - you should know that this is entirely an interest at the moment and not part of my work!

Even with my marketing background , getting people to sign up and use a website which is designed to inspire, motivate and eventually ,help people participate in physical activity is quite a challenge so I'm hoping to find lots of great advice on UKBF!

Thanks for reading and look forward to interacting with you on the forums.

Andy

Welcome, Andy, and all the best with your new website. It must be satisfying to develop a site that you know will help people improve their general well-being.

How did the fitness bug bite you? Is this something you've always been interested in?

Hi Steve - Thanks for replying

Yes- I have a friend who has been telling me for ages how good he felt when training for the London Marathon. I'm 33 now but not so long ago used to be quite fit... Working hard and kids etc soon had its effects and to be honest I changed into a bit of a lazy slob.

I always enjoyed excercise and sports and have often thought ' i'd like to go for a run etc' but thats where it stopped. I wanted to come up with a way of ensuring that I (along with I think loads of people like me) could keep motivated to exercise regularly and set myself a goal. Needless to say my friend has helped me set the new site up!

Thats where the new website came from. I really think that it can work - not just for me but for others too! :) Am looking forward to getting some ideas to spread the word though!

Hi Andy, good luck with the venture.

Dunno if this is of interest, met this chap at a recent networking event, and he seems to be along the same lines as yourself. Maybe some synergy, cross promotion or ideas.

Thank you very much for that - really appreciate it and I will get in touch my project may be something that would interest him!

Feel free to check out my new site if you're looking for some motivation - there;s no cost and while i am pre-launch at the mo there is still some interaction going on and you would be more than welcome to join in!
