Claire,
I enjoyed a business dinner this evening in a fancy restaurant. The unisex toilet was small and homely. On the wall were a number of paintings by a local artist; a small note explained how to contact the artist.
This may sound quirky, but what about hanging some of your art work on toilet walls in high-end restaurants? Just think about it: Where else would you have a captive audience for 30 seconds or more? There's not much for patrons to do but study your work during that time.

That's a bit of a bog-standard idea - but I like it! ;)

you would get more than 30 seconds in the ladies, and you would double your audience as they never go alone...

Hi Steve,
I'm struggling to understand the correlation between Claire's art and toilets. Are you 'tongue-in-cheek' suggesting her works are more suited to the latrine rather than the gallery?
There is also another angle to this that interests me. I am a proud owner of an original 'Mackaness'. I may well be swayed to exhibit mine in the toilet, but I prefer to hear Claire's preferance for the siting of her works.
If, of course, the toilet is 'the go', I look forward to contributing names for the next 'Painting of the Month.' Could be a real 'hot and steamy' contest!!
Cheers, Nigel

Enjoy a good f-art :P
I am certainly not referring to anyone's artwork, just a humour amongst all art. On a serious note, I think the toilets is not really a good place because in most pubs for instance toilets mainly are covered in advertising.
The artist needs to think about the image she/he wants to represent themselves as and I think the toilets may appear to the public that the artist is desperate.
Let advertising stay in the toilets and good art in better places. The artist could always approach a newly established themed-restaurant to offer some art for free or low cost in exchange for promoting the art.
Sometimes art has to be painted to suit the individual customer/taste etc therefore I suggest the above approach.
Not quite a good example, but I have a cousin who produces wine in Rep.Georgia and they have their own methods and ingredients. My cousin visited Sweden and they tasted the wine and asked him to modify the method/ingredient to suit the market in Sweden. It sells!
