Hello All,

You may have noticed I have not been around much recently.

Well it is for a good reason I have been very busy since our TV feature and now am finding my feet again :-)

Rosesbydesign is into its 4th week of business and what a few weeks it has been, highs, lows and panic. But all in all going very well.

After the large rush of orders from the TV feature, site traffic has now started to return to normal so its my continuing task to get the business 'out there'.

All suggestions are welcome for advertising and promotional ideas.

This is an ongoing thing that I will have to work on.

Hi Mark,
Yep, sometimes a good, but common problem. So busy, but not enough time to look forward and promote. Hope you can use the 'little lull' effectively!
Cheers, Nigel

Mark since you have established that TV exposure gives you a direct increase in sales why not try TV or radio advertising as your next step.

Congrats on getting so far so quickly Mark!

I would sit down and analyse the orders you have had, and see if there is a trend towards one kind of event or another, pick the most prominent one or two and market in those arenas.

How about your local press? I'm sure they'll be interested in a local company (person ) who got their unique product shown on television within 4 weeks of your launch.

well done mate,

it is so nice to see someone who has come so far in such a short space of time.
the tv coverage has obviously proved to be the perfect launch pad for you.
sort of wish i had a product unique enough to be on this morning

my advice

do everything you can without spending much money

stick a advert in your car or perhaps made a bloody big rose out of cardboard and tissue and put it on your car roof and drive around towns

stand outside tesco and give out leaflets

advertise in cheap web magazines

advertise on local radio at nightime only because its cheap and most people may have access to their computer

put leaflets in all your letterboxes

start on your home ground and work out

plan to go to flower shows next spring

give your local shops the leaflets and say you mention that order forms on leaflet can be pick up from....

feature the this morning video on your website, or at least pictures

hope this helps you

Hello Mark,

I agree with the other replies, if a marketing method is working for you then do more of it.

Also all the customers you have just won should also be a major part of your next marketing plan. Most of us put more effort into aquiring new customers than we do in keeping in touch with existing ones, even though they are already sold on you.

If you drop me your email address I can send you a short guide I put together on other marketing techniques which will hopefully give you a few ideas.

You can enter your address on my website.

Well done so far

Noticed the other day that Clintons Cards offer roses from their shops and web site www.clintoncards.co.uk It may be an avenue to pursue - if they aren't interested what about independent card and gift shops - even high street florists??

I think you should get your site listed on gift sites - the best way to do this is probably with your affiliate programme. It's an unusual product which should interest affiliates, but you'll need to spend some time getting hold of them.

Then start preparing for Valentine's Day. You need to start early because most magazines work about 2 months in advance, if not more - we're featured in magazines at the moment that contacted us months ago! Work out where you're going to advertise, what PR you're going to do etc. Most general interest magazines will have a Valentine's gifts section though if you have to advertise it'll cost a fortune, so work on the PR - hire someone to do this for you if necessary, if they do a good job you'll more than pay for it in sales. Start with the local press as Lisa suggests, as they're always interested in a local business story, and it may even be picked up by others as a result.
