does anyone know of a good, possibly free text from pc service that i can use to alert my clients to view their designs?

i.e. designs are produced and are ready to view, and to alert them by text would be quite useful

??

free not that i know of, but a custom app can be put together with cheap rates, 3 or 4p per text

there are a few ways this can be done.

pm me if you would like to discuss further

i used a free sms service a few years ago that allowed you to actually allow your clients to send free sms from your site.

i just set up a private site so only my staff used it to send messages to clients

you could also change the "from" name to that of your business

like i said it has been a couple of years but try http://www.fonetastic.com/

they are still listed in google under free sms so worth a try

Cross posting is really annoying and wastes everyone's time.

I've not seen it before on this forum. Do the mod's have a view on this?

Yes we do it - but we charge!

I don't think you'll a free service, but we do give you 2 free texts so you can test.

When looking for these servicess do check how they work - cheap (and some expensive!) services are often stored and spooled which is fine if the messages are not time-sensitive.

If you need messages to happen when you press the send button look for companies that can directly inject into the mobile network.

Absolutely not, it was directed at the original poster.

Cross posting is when you place the same question on 2 different boards at the same time, and is usually strongly discouraged on forums and email lists.

The problem is that you answer on one board and then find someone else has already answered on another, and then if you want to follow up, which board do you use, and so on. Anyone trying to follow has to look in two places - all round a waste of time.

i sincerely apologise but didnt actually realise what i had done was cross posting. cross posting in my eyes is saying "hey, heres a website i found......its worth a look" when its actually the owner themselves doing the posting.

i only joined on the 5th so still trying to suss out what questions are posted where, and in this case wasnt sure which to post in, previously one question i posted was moved.

perhaps next time you shouldnt jump straight to such conclusions and ask before accusing, maybe even a private message so that i knew? As i say in the first sentence, i am sorry and genuinely didnt realise. it seems uksbc was also a bit confused to start with.
