Hi, does anyone know how lead generation companies work and what it cost?

We are looking for a company which will generate leads and convert them into sales for us..can anyone recommend any companies and guide me on the cost? Thanks!

Most people will tell you that selling your product is the most important part of running a business. You can be the best in the world but you still have to find a way to get people interested.

I think getting leads is more likely than doing the whole sales process, as this will probably be more cost effective unless you really feel you need someone to be able to put accross your product properly.

if you can answer these questions, I'll happily provide you with the advice of 15 years in sales/marketing/lead generation experience. And I'm not a lead generation company. It will all depend:

What are you selling
What do you define as a lead
Who do you want the leads to come from consumer / business
Who do you want to target
What is the value to the target market
What are your USP's

You are right, there are so many different lead gen selling businesses and lots of them will sell you a lead and its not. You can buy lists, but there is no point in this form of direct marketing if you have no product ie online community that has e-bulletin's.

Hi thanks for your reply. We have two different products targeted at different TA.

What are you selling – B2C and B2B telecom products
What do you define as a lead – generate leads and convert them into £££ sales
Who do you want the leads to come from consumer / business - both
Who do you want to target – residential + SMEs (1-10 employees)
What is the value to the target market – cheaper telephone bills
What are your USP's – good quality and value for money services

B2C has always been our main and strongest market – and we have all the data (telephone numbers) for telesales as we wanted to migrate current customers onto a better product.

We are still quite new to the B2B market and most lead generation companies are generating appointments only. ROI is extremely important to us, and we are willing to invest in companies willing to generate and convert those leads into sales for us.

Does such company exist or do we have to do the telesales ourselves? :|

Is this a telco product that you have developed or are re-selling?? Can I be cheeky and ask for the name of the telecoms company??

There are companies out there that will conduct lead generation, and close deals for you but they will request in the region of 40% of the TOV (total order value). These guy's are basically outsourced sales companies, but having the contact numbers of your existing clients would help - I'd probably keep those to yourself as you know them, they trust you and its a much easier sale.

What exactly are the products??? Telephone lines, Broadband, mobile handsets etc etc

It’s telco products (08 numbers, conference calling, call plans etc.) which we have developed...we used to provide only B2B bespoke solutions and only recently going into the retail channel. Are you from a telco background too?? =_)

40% of TOV – that’s a lot of money – our margin alone is hardly that.



Can anyone suggest any names/contact details?

To be honest with you I'm not from a Telco's background but am a BDM for the publishers of this site and the other 25 B2B communities Sift Media run. I take care of a lot of Telco accounts, but I'm purely here to offer any advice I can. Do you have a website for your telco products, that would be easier, and if I can think of any names and numbers to act as agents I'll let you know
