View Full Version : Finding "junior" marketeers...

Hi,

I'm looking for some unique Guerilla marketing ideas, but don't have a massive budget.

In this situation I usually try and give the work to people who are at Uni/just graduated and looking to build a portfolio of work... but I can't find "newbie marketeers" anywhere.

Does anyone have any suggestions of where I can find some junior marketeers who'd be grateful for some extra cash, and an opportunity to build their porfolio with an exciting product that gives them a lot of free rein to try something different...

Are you still based in/near Southampton, Gavin? You could offer to do a talk to the students at Solent Uni. They have a lot of marketing courses there. That would flush out a few keen peeps.

We always get graduate help from the universities running PR/marketing courses.

Just register with their graduate recruitment people and register your work request on their jobs boards.

We have used Kingston for marketing and Bournemouth, ULU, Cardiff and Leeds for PR

I know plenty of students doing business and management, marketing or business studies courses who all cover marketing but a lot of them are studying final years. I think I could find some people to generate ideas and marketing methods if you wanted. Depends upon the benefits and the time expected from them.

I studied PR at Leeds Met and I know that both PR and marketing students there are always looking for opportunities to build up their portfolio's with some real-life work. A lot of them would be willing to do work for free, or at the most for a small amount of beer money!!

If you contact the PR and marketing departments at the uni i'm sure they would post the opportunities on the student notice boards for you no problem.

Call the switchboard on 0113 812 0000 and they will put you through to the right person.

Thanks for the replies... I'll defo contact the Universities.

Thanks for the recommendations of specific Universities that have marketing courses.

I'd like to think that what I can offer them is quite a bit of flexibility with what they do, rather than being tied to very strict "brand guidelines" that only permit certain marketing activity (plus the beer money won't be turned down lol)

Why not hold a competition for students to come up with the best low cost unique marketing ideas?

This way you get the benefit of several students rather than one, and the beer money is still enough of an incentive to get them to enter.
